History

Compounding Solutions, LLC was founded in 1999 by Scott Neal of Wales, Maine. Scott opened the facility with the sole purpose of becoming the leading medical compounder. Over 20 years later, Scott still runs Compounding Solutions, LLC, with the same mindset.

Scott gained his knowledge in plastics engineering by working for his father and plastics entreneur, Robert A. Neal. As a ten-year-old, Scott worked with plastic processing equiment for blown film applications.

In 1990, Scott graduated from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire with degrees in Economics and Business Administration.

Upon graduation, Scott founded PolyColors, Inc., a custom color masterbatch manufacturer servicing blown film, injection molding, and profile extrusion plastics processors in the Northeast.

In 1997, Scott sold PolyColors, Inc. to Clariant Masterbatches. Scott stayed with Clariant as General Manager for two years before opening Compounding Solutions, LLC.
In 1999, Compounding Solutions opened its doors in Lewiston, Maine. The Initial facility was 10,000 sqft, held two extrusion lines, and only three employees (including Scott).
First Expansion We added another 10,000 sqft to accommodate another twin-screw line and more inventory space.
Second Expansion Our second expansion included the following:
  • 6,400 sqft. Controlled environment white room
  • 8,000 sqft. Industrial compound manufacturing area
  • Controlled Environment Quality Control and R&D Laboratory
  • Pete Goguen R&D Innovation Center
Mobilize, Medical Grade Surface Friction Technology.
We partnered with Evonik as the authorized distributor of their Medical Grade Care portfolio.
Third Expansion Our third expansion doubled our Lewiston facility to 120,000 sqft. This expansion was necessary to support over 90 employees and 17 lines in our four manufacturing areas.
In 2022, we partnered with DSM Engineering Materials to distribute their Care portfolio. We collaborated on the new product, COPE RO™ with Arnitel® Care.

Our first product launch: ReZilient™ Rx is our Medical Grade SEBS TPU. In 2008, we received our ISO 9001:2008 certification.

In 2021, we established the first entity of Compounding Solutions: Compounding Solutions Europe. The entity is based in Athlone, Ireland, to best serve our growing European customers and projects.
In 2023 we expanded our Lewiston, Maine headquarters!
